Richard "Dick" Suderman (October 18, 1939 - October 16, 1972) was a Canadian Football League player who was named the Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian in the 1971 Grey Cup.[1] Dick played Defensive End for the Calgary Stampeders. He won the Grey Cup in 1971 with the Calgary Stampeders.

The Dick Suderman Trophy is awarded each Grey Cup to the Most Valuable Canadian.

Suderman collapsed a day after a game and died a few hours later of a brain hemorrhage at 4:15 PM. He was having breakfast in a downtown restaurant with his teammates after the team's return from Vancouver.[2]

He played his only game as an Eskimo two days before his death, against the BC Lions.
