Afghanistan , nearKabul . After completed his first two years of school in Panjshir, Tahir's family moved toKabul for education and later moved again toGhazni . After spending two years in Ghazni, he returned to Kabul and there completed his education at the "Music Lyceum". Tahir first gained popularity in 1983 with his song "Baaz Ham Afghani Asti". He has since recorded over 40 songs inPersian ,Hindi and some songs in Pashto. He became mostly famous when he composed songs about his hometown thePanjshir valley, about "Khorasan " (name of modern Afghanistan between the 3rd A.D and middle of the 19th century) and about the Tajik heroAhmad Shah Massud . He also sings sometime Persian-Hindi mixed songs like "Dil" (pers.: "Heart").Discography
