William Lloyd George, 3rd Viscount Tenby (born
7 November 1927 ) is a British peer and soldier. He is one of the ninetyhereditary peer s in theHouse of Lords , elected to remain after the passing of theHouse of Lords Act 1999 .Lord Tenby is the son of
Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby , and Edna Gwenfrom Jones. His father was a Liberal National politician who served asHome Secretary underWinston Churchill andAnthony Eden . (The 3rd) Lord Tenby's paternal grandfather was Churchill's old chief,David Lloyd George , the famous British Liberal Prime Minister 1916-1922, who also served asChancellor of the Exchequer 1908-1915. Ironically, David Lloyd George's 1909 Budget, which was rejected out of hand by the House of Lords, paved the way for reform of that House.He was educated atEastbourne College and atSt Catharine's College, Cambridge , where he graduated with aBachelor of Arts in history in 1949. In 1983, he succeeded to his older brother's title. Lord Tenby served in theRoyal Welch Fusiliers , reaching the rank ofCaptain .Lloyd George worked as editorial assistant for
Herbert Jenkins Ltd from 1951 to 1954 and in the advertisement department ofAssociated Newspapers from 1954 to 1957. Between 1957 and 1974, he was group advertising manager ofUnited Dominions Trust Ltd and between 1974 and 1987 PR adviser to Chairman ofKleinwort Benson Ltd . In 1985, he became consultant to theWilliams Lea Group until 1993. He was director ofUgland International plc from 1993 to 1995. He is chairman of the trustees ofByways Residential Home and president ofAldershot Group Riding For The Disabled .Since 1955, Lord Tenby has been married to Ursula Diana Ethel Medlicott, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Edward Medlicott DSO. They have two daughters and one son,
