He entered the seminary in 1957 and spent seven years of his priestly formation at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. Among his many appointments was serving as Assistant Parish Priest at St Francis’ Parish, Karachi and Principal of St Paul’s High School from 1984 to 2000.[1] On 3 December 1999 he was appointed Bishop of Hyderabad by Pope John Paul II.[2]

The Bishop has been at the forefront of encouraging pastoral work that is revolutionizing attitudes towards women. The Diocese pastoral teams have changed the way that people think, and uplifted the status of women – women were seen as chattel, they had never sent girls to school as they didn’t see the value in educating them, but now they send them to school as well.[4]
