Lucy Turnbull is the first female Lord Mayor of Sydney. She was educated at theFrensham School , inMittagong , south ofSydney .She is the daughter of the prominent Sydney
Queen's Counsel , the Hon. Tom Hughes, a former Australian Attorney-General.Lucy Turnbull held the position of Lord Mayor until early 2004, when the New South Wales Labor Party Government, under
Bob Carr , sacked and re-amalgamated the City ofSydney andSouth Sydney Councils. (Clover Moore is the present Lord Mayor of Sydney).She is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, a respiratory and sleep research institute and a member of the Advisory Board of the National Portrait Gallery.
