Little Brown Jug of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

The Little Brown Jug game of Michigan's Upper Peninsula is played between Sault Ste. Marie and Newberry. The game has been played since 1911 and is recorded as one of the oldest rivalries in Michigan football history, Sault Ste. Marie leads Newberry in the series 51-26-5. The most recent game was October 20, 2006 where Sault Ste. Marie, beat Newberry 27-7 to win back the Little Brown Jug, also clinching a long awaited playoff berth. Each year the winner enscribes the year and score from the game. The next time the "Jug" will be up for grabs will be October 20, 2007. Sault Ste. Marie retains the "Jug" with a victory over Newberry on October 20, 2007 winning by the final score of 41-16.
