The ship was built by
American Shipbuilding Co., located inLorain, Ohio , U.S.A. From the time that it was laid down, on28 November ,1941 , to the time that it was removed from theNaval Register , in March of1963 , the ship would have an epic career that involved much recommissioning and reclassification:History
The Seer was first decommissioned in
1947 , onApril 26 , atOrange, Texas . It was then laid up in theAtlantic Reserve Fleet , before being recommissioned in late1950 .Five years later, it was reclassified as a Fleet Minesweeper, (Steel-hulled) MSF-112. However, only one month later, on11 March 1955 , it was again decommissioned. However, this was not the end of its career, and on31 October 1958 , "Seer" was reclassified again, this time as a Coastal Minesweeper MMC-5.Decommissioning
Four years later, in
1962 , it was transferred to theRoyal Norwegian Navy , where it received a new title of "Uller" (N 50). Finally, on the 1st of March,1963 , the ship was struck from theNaval Register .See also
