Ruth Bidgood

Ruth Bidgood

Ruth Bidgood (born 1922), is a Welsh poet.

She was born at Seven Sisters near Neath. Her father, a vicar, came from North Wales. He was responsible for a parish at Port Talbot, where Ruth was brought up. Her mother was English. Ruth studied English at the University of Oxford.

During World War II, she served as a Wren in the Middle East. After working for "Chambers's Encyclopaedia", she returned to Wales and settled at Abergwesyn. Her "New and Selected Poems" was shortlisted for the Roland Mathias Prize in 2005.
