Saint Kevin and his followers. Present day Kilnamanagh has close ties toGlendalough , the other resting place of St Kevin. Cycle rallies and picnics used to be an annual feature.The church and castle located in Kilnamanagh were destroyed when the building of the housing estate commenced. The well that was built by St. Kevin is now covered up, but there is still a small garden around the well for people to visit. Many tributes to St. Kevin and his followers can still be seen in Kilnamanagh with a large pride built around St. Kevin, with the school, church and local sports teams being named after him.
Kilnamanagh was one of the largest housing estate in Europe at the time it was built and is, to this day, the largest private housing estate in Europe. Kilnamanagh has a primary school, a shopping centre, a Credit Union and is close to The Square shopping centre, the third largest shopping centre in Ireland. The LUAS and M50 are located minutes away from the estate. There are approximately 1,600 houses in Kilnamanagh.
Kilnamanagh is divided into smaller areas such as Redwood, Elmcastle, Parkhill, Birchview, and Tamerisk.
There is an active soccer club in Kilnamanagh, with plans to build two 'astro parks' with floodlights.
