Cucumis is a genus of twining, tendril-bearing plants in the Cucurbitaceae family which includes the cucumber, true melons, the horned melon, and Cucumis anguria, the West Indian gherkin. Thirty species occur in Africa, 25 in India, Indochina, Southeast Asia, and Australia [1]
