Personal life

Career

During the mid-1990s Archie worked with many nationally prominent clients who were publishing to the web for the first time. His projects served clients such as American Express, Amtrak, General Electric, Owens Corning, and Wachovia. In 1996 Archie was a leading team member for the L’eggs web site, winning the first-ever Gold Clio award given to a web site.

Archie then joined a Washington, DC-based consulting company, and led a user interface design project for McKesson Corporation, the largest pharmaceuticals distributor in the US. The throughput of the interface he designed now exceeds that of Amazon.com, and revenues surpass $12 billion annually. He has also led design and user experience initiatives for Fannie Mae, JPMorgan Chase, and webMethods.

Archie and his family moved to the Richmond area and 2001 and, with the assistance of a former classmate from art school, co-founded an interactive agency. Working as the sole lead designer for more than three years, he created branding, pioneered multimedia for the web, and established a web presence for local museums. His clients included the Valentine Richmond History Center, Appomattox County, Virginia’s Retreat, VCU and the Christian Children’s Fund.

In 2004 he created a content management system for Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts. During that time he also created several browser based products for client communications, employment database management, and workshop registration.

Recently, Archie began teaching graduate-level web design courses at Virginia Commonwealth University and contracts freelance work with local agencies.
