Anthony Robert Trickett MBE (born 1940) is a Scottish doctor and currently
Lord Lieutenant of Orkney .Trickett practiced in several hospitals in
Manchester between 1964 and 1966, demonstrating then Anatomy atUniversity of Manchester between 1966 and 1967. From 1967 to 1973, he wasGeneral Practitioner in Pembroke inDyfed and from 1973 to 2000 inHoy and Walls . Since 1973, he is Honorary Medical Advisor ofLonghope Lifeboat and since 1995 its Honorary Secretary. Since 2000 he is also chairman of theLonghope Lifeboat Museum Trust . Trickett is further aDivisional Medical Advisor . He is a member of the Medical and Survival Committee of theRoyal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and received the Institution's Silver Badge in 1994 and the Gold Badge in 2004.Trickett is a trustee of the
Hoy Trust since 1984, becoming its chairman in 1992. Since 2003, he is alsotrustee of thePickaquoy Centre inKirkwall . Between 2000 and 2006, he was director ofOrkney Enterprise . He is further director of theGable End Theatre inHoy and is chairman of theHoy Half Marathon , he had founded. Having been made a Member of theOrder of the British Empire (MBE) in 1998, Trickett was appointed aDeputy Lieutenant ofOrkney in 1999. In 2005, he was made Vice Lord Lieutenant and on27 February 2007 he becameLord Lieutenant .Trickett is married.
