Sir John Burke, 2nd Baronet

Colonel Sir John Burke, 2nd Baronet (1782 – 14 September 1847) was an Irish soldier and politician.

The son of Sir Thomas Burke, 1st Baronet and Christian Browne, he served in the 98th Foot, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1804 and Colonel in 1805. In 1813, he succeeded to his father's baronetcy. Burke was Member of Parliament (MP) for Galway County from 1830 to 1832. He was High Sheriff of Galway in 1838, and Vice-Lieutenant of Galway. Burke died in Ely Place in Dublin.

On 18 May 1812, he married Elizabeth Mary Calcraft, daughter of Rt. Hon. John Calcraft in St James' Church in Westminster. They had four children:

*Elizabeth Anne Burke (d. 1890), married David O’Connor Henchy on 10 January 1850
*Sir Thomas Burke, 3rd Baronet (1813–1875)
*Charles Granby Burke (1814–1898)
*Major-General James Henry Burke (1816–1882)
