A59 road in Maghull, where it is called Liverpool Road North. After leaving the town, it crosses over theLeeds and Liverpool Canal inLydiate . It passes theScotch Piper Inn before entering Lancashire atDownholland Cross .Lancashire
It crosses over the canal twice more, then proceeds onto
Haskayne andHalsall , passing through open countryside, before terminating at its junction with theA570 road , just south of Scarisbrick. In total the road is about 7.5 miles (12 km) long, and is built entirely tosingle carriageway standard.ee also
