Rasmussem, Inc.

Rasmussem, Inc.

Rasmussem, Inc. is a fictional company in Vivian Vande Velde's books "User Unfriendly" and "Heir Apparent". The company owns and operates a chain of gaming centers where people can play advanced virtual reality computer games which are so realistic that you feel like you are there.

Involvement in the books

The plot of "User Unfriendly" involves hacker Arvin Rizalli and his friends and their usage of an illegal copy of a Rasmussem, Inc. game. "Heir Apparent" involves Rasmussem directly, and a problem with demonstrators damaging equipment while a player is still connected.

Nigel Rasmussem

The founder of the company is Nigel Rasmussem, a sixteen-year-old prodigy who created it when he was only fourteen. Nigel, ironically, has to work at the concession stand at one of his own company's gaming centers because his parents limit the amount of time he is allowed to have on the computer.
