relations=Mike JudgeIn John Birmingham's Axis of Time universe, Karen Halabi is a Royal Navy Captain who is commander of the HMS Trident, and Deputy Commander of the Multinational Taskforce. After the Transition, Halabi married the Texan Mike Judge and left the service, taking a position as Senior Vice-President in charge of Research & Development at Combat Optics.

Halabi was abused by her Pakistani father as a child, and mused that it drove her to the sea, mainly because it was very far away from her father. As a Sub-Lieutenant, Halabi survived a suicide run on her ship, and as a captain would often run extensive drills that left her crew dreaming of crazed jihadists careening motorboats piled high with TNT towards them.

Halabi had one of the toughest integrations to 1940s society, being a female officer and of Pakistani descent. Although supported by her crew and Winston Churchill, it was too much and after the defeat of the Axis Powers, she resigned her commission and moved out to The Zone.
