Caroline Brady is a longtime character on the soap opera "Days of our Lives" portrayed by Peggy McCay.Caroline is the matriarch of the Brady clan. They are more outspoken and emotionally expressive than the Horton family. Caroline is a feisty lady who will stand up to anyone for the good of her family.

Years ago, Caroline had an affair with Victor Kiriakis, which produced Bo, her second son. She kept that secret for many years, until Victor returned to Salem in 1985. She and husband Shawn survived the exposure of that secret. Now, Caroline spends her time sharing duties at the Brady Pub and babysitting her grandchildren. Her religious faith helped her greatly when she assisted in Marlena's exorcism.

Caroline was a "victim" of the Salem Stalker and found herself living as a hostage on a tropical island version of her hometown. While living there, her romance with Victor Kiriakis, another hostage, came back to life. After they escaped the island, Victor and Carolina, as well as Roman, Marlena, Jack and Cassie, were recaptured and taken to a remote DiMera castle. From there, they battle flames and Tony's minions as they try to escape. Victor and Caroline attempt to escape but it appears Tony got the upper hand once again. Caroline and Victor survive the explosion and, with Bart's help, they escape. They head out unaware Roman and the others are also getting away.

Back in Salem, Roman and John break the news that Caroline and Victor did not make it. Tony still has them hostage, this time on a remote DiMera island. They are in the lap of luxury but they may never be able to escape. Victor is resigned to this fact as long as he is with Caroline, but she wants to get back to her family. He says he'll do what it takes to help her get home to her loved ones.

Bo and Hope go in search of Victor and Caroline. They find the island, where Tony warns Hope that Bo is about to fall into his trap, but lets her reunite with Victor and Caroline. Victor and Caroline are brought in to watch Tony kill either Bo or Hope. They all manage to escape, with Patrick's help, and make it back to Salem.

Sami gets ready for her wedding and Caroline comes to help. Sami is touched, but she can't help fearing something will go wrong. Roman and Caroline both try to calm her. Of course, something does go wrong; all of Salem is locked down on a terrorist alert. Mimi, Belle and Caroline end up in the bride's room during the lockdown. Mimi confides in Caroline how she wants to find the right man; Caroline assures her she will. The hope chest is there and Caroline urges Mimi to put on her wedding dress. Belle reacts negatively. Shawn arrives to see Mimi looking gorgeous in Caroline's dress.

After Chelsea accidentally kills Zack, Bo helps her cover it up. Bo sees Chelsea with Caroline and hopes she is going to confess. Bo confides in Caroline and she also advises he must tell the truth! Hope returns from the bathroom and asks what they are talking about. Patrick, meanwhile, has found proof that Chelsea was driving the car the night of Zack's death!

Belle confides in Caroline that she wants to stop Shawn and Mimi's wedding. Belle goes to talk to Philip but Kate intervenes. At the reception at Chez Rouge, Caroline asks Belle why she changed her mind. Belle admits it is because of Kate's story.

Caroline learns Bo and Hope's divorce is on track. She calls Frankie for Hope's phone number.On the island, Hope gets a call from Caroline urging her to talk to Bo. Caroline surreptitiously gives Bo Hope's new phone number. He calls but Patrick answers the phone and Bo recognizes his voice and goes ballistic.

Frankie and Jennifer get engaged. Caroline and Grandpa Shawn celebrate the news.

Caroline asks Jennifer to call Kayla; the family needs her. Jennifer does and talks her into coming home for the wedding and to help Bo and Hope.

Kayla confides in Caroline about Steve being in Cincinnati. Caroline tells her daughter to fight for her man!

It's a race against time to find an antidote to the toxin killing Steve and Kayla. Steve and Kayla take a turn for the worse; the antidote isn't working. Caroline lays into the doctor, demanding he save her daughter.

Frankie tells Caroline and Grandpa Shawn that he got a job in DC and will be leaving Salem in a week. He needs to get away from his memories of Jennifer.

John and Marlena ask Caroline about Colleen. Caroline reveals that she was Grandpa Shawn's older sister and that she died young, but she doesn't know the cause.

Victor runs into Caroline and they talk about Bo and Grandpa Shawn. They run into Chelsea, who begs them to tell her the story of how they came to be Bo's parents. Chelsea is impacted by the fact that her dad loves both of his fathers.

A group Salemites, including Grandpa Shawn, are on their way back from Ireland on John's plane. Lexie is with Abe when he gets a call from NORAD. They've lost radio contact with John's plane. Abe gets on the phone, anxious to find the plane. Abe and Roman track the plane while NORAD dispatches rescue planes. Caroline, Stephanie, Chelsea and Max find out, but there is nothing they can do but pray.

The crash survivors arrive at the Salem hospital. Caroline learns that Bo is ill and Grandpa Shawn is dead. She is heartbroken.

Roman tells Bo that the FAA is looking into the cause of the plane crash. Shawn, Belle, Caroline and Claire come to visit Bo in the ICU. Bo thinks he's to blame for Grandpa Shawn's death. He worries that his father sacrificed himself in vain.

Sami and Belle arrive at the pub to find Shawn, Roman and Caroline making funeral arrangements for Grandpa Shawn. EJ arrives with the twins. He overhears Belle sympathizing with Sami over her soul mate (Lucas) being so far away. EJ hides his hurt feelings. Caroline takes him aside and says she knows what he's feeling; EJ made mistakes with Sami just as she made a mistake with Victor but both resulted in a child who is a blessing to them all. Caroline urges EJ to come to the funeral. Later, Sami questions EJ about Caroline's words and EJ insists Caroline sees his potential to change.

Bo is released from the hospital to attend Shawn's funeral but he still does not have a diagnosis. At the pub, Kimberly arrives and reunites with everyone. Victor arrives and offers to escort Caroline to the church. She thinks Shawn wouldn't mind but insists on walking there alone. At St. Luke's, Roman gives the eulogy, then Kim, Kayla and Bo speak. Chloe sings and everyone pays their respects to Shawn.

Caroline hooks Marlena up with Victor, who has been irritable, restless and upset over Isabella's death.

Belle and Shawn tell Caroline, Marlena and Sami the news about their sailing trip. Marlena worries about Belle accepting the boat from John, but Belle defends him. They all say their goodbyes.

With Grandpa Shawn gone, Max is helping Caroline out in the pub. She's grateful for the help, but is more than strong enough to continue on her own.
