Fever is a 1982 novel by Robin Cook and is in the category of medical thriller. The main characters are a 12 year old girl, Michelle, with myeoloblastic leukaemia, and her father, Charles. She goes to a hospital where her doctors decide to give her experimental high doses of chemotherapy. This results in deteriorating her strength and health which her father doesn't approve of. Charles has been a cancer researcher for ten years since his first wife died of a different type of leukaemia. He tries to unlock the cure to cancer and to save Michelle's life while overcoming problems such as being thrown out of work and sought after by the police. Charles is forced to work locked in his home and to perform experiments on himself in hopes of giving Michelle a cure in time.
