Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year

The Chortle Student Comedian of the Year is a national search of the UK's universities to find the 'funniest student', run by the comedy website Chortle, Heats take place in the spring term, and the event is open to students aged 18 years or over enrolled in tertiary education at any UK university. The final is held in Edinburgh in August during the Fringe festival. In 2007, the competition was sponsored by Revels, and was renamed the Revels Student Comedy Awards with Chortle.co.uk, but has reverted to its former name in 2008.

Heats & the final

For the 2006-2007 competition the heats were held at Newcastle University, the University of Leeds, the University of Edinburgh, Swansea University, the University of Sheffield, the University of Birmingham, the University of Bristol, the University of London, the University of Nottingham, the University of Warwick, the University of Southampton and the University of Manchester. From these heats twelve winners automatically went through to the final which was held in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Another finalist from the runners-up of the heats was chosen after the heats finished. This finalist was chosen by visitors to chortle.co.uk who could watch videos of any act at any of the heats. The winner of the final received £2,500 and the runner-up won £500.
