- Portuguese Club
The Portuguese Club was founded by the late Carlos Batista, Manuel Ribeiro and Joaquim Leitao in
June 5 1974 . Together they conceived the idea that a meeting place was needed where the Portuguese local citizens could interact, get to know one another and enrich their heritage and culture. They began by compiling a list of potentially interested people to form the first Membership Roster, followed by a meeting to elect the first Board of Directors. The newly formed Portuguese Social Club was then registered through the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stocks as a Charitable Society.Prior to moving to their new building situated at 30 Mount Hope Avenue onDecember 31 1999 , the Portuguese Social Club met at St. Paul’s Parish of Dartmouth,Nova Scotia ,Canada since their inception in 1974. The Portuguese Social Club remains deeply grateful to St. Paul’s Parish of Dartmouth, for their welcome and assistance and for the use of the facilities andchurch.=Portuguese Club Communities=
