Tanda is a city and a municipal board in Ambedaker Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Tanda is located at coord|26.33|N|82.39|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/36/Tanda.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Tanda] ] . It has an average elevation of 78 metres (255 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Tanda had a population of 83,079. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Tanda has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 54%. In Tanda, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tanda is an industrial town between Varanasi (155 k.m.) Lucknow (180 k.m.) Ayodhya Faizabad (55 k.m.) Gorakhpur (80 k.m.).Hanswar (15 K.m.)kashmirya chauraha is a beautiful place of tanda town which is situated between tanda and akbarpurroad 1 k.m. from tanda.Arkashpur is the most developed village of tanda.

Industries

Tanda city that is famous for Tanda Terricot. Here, the main business depend on power looms. Tanda National Thermal Power Corporation project is a very big colony. It has a hospital, three schools and two clubs. At the back of the colony there is a very beautiful view of the river 'Sarayu'. It has many parks, all of them beautiful.Jaypee cement factory is also based near the colony.

The main religion of Tanda city is Hindu and Muslim. Some Sikhs also lives here. Tanda is also famous for its holy River Saryu.

Political

Tanda is also a constituency, from here at this time M.L.A. is Mr. Lalji Verma of political party Bahujan Samaj Party Headed By Miss. Mayawati she is at this time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Lalji Verma is also cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh he has three ministry, minister of assembly affairs, medical education minister, handicap welfare minister.
