Ellen Germaine has been singing professionally since she was a teenager in
Chicago . She honed her craft in numerous "Windy City" blues and jazz clubs rising to the rank of 'headliner' at such notable Chicago venues as thePlayboy Club ,Orphans , theBulls ,Wise Fools , Park West, and many others. Along the way she touredEurope with her band for theUSO , was featured on thePBS Series "Nightclubbing " and recorded a live album at theArie Crown theatre withRitchie Havens ,Bonnie Raitt ,Arlo Guthrie andDavid Bromberg for a tribute toSteve Goodman .With her broad range of musical styles she was welcomed into the jingle community and has recorded a number of solo spots for
McDonalds ,Wisk , Nestlé Crunch,Kellogg's Corn Flakes , a duet forPearl Vision withJesse Colin Young ,Cherry Coke , among others. Ellen moved toNew York in the 1980s and became a regular atthe Duplex ,Catch a Rising Star ,Caroline's ,Upstairs at Green Street andShowtime at the Apollo . After being signed toFama Records , she wrote and produced a number of dance singles in collaboration with bassistFrancisco Centeno ,” "Keep It Up "”, being the break out dance single.Ellen toured with the
Gregory Hines Review for several years performing regularly in Las Vegas,Atlantic City ,Japan ,Monte Carlo for theRed Cross Ball and various locations throughout the world, headlining withDionne Warwick ,Gladys Knight ,Bill Cosby ,Robert Townsend , among others.After studying with the best teachers that New York has to offer, Ellen has developed a style of teaching that focuses on performance, proper breathing, body balance and relaxation. She returned to her native Chicago at the end of last year and is currently accepting private students and working on her new CD.
