February 10 ,1976 inPorto Alegre ,Brazil ) is aBrazil ian footballer who most recently played for Botafogo. He was signed by the John Barnes/Kenny Dalglish management of Celtic from Grêmio for £5m and failed to make an impact. Scheidt's arrival was met with derision from opposing fans due to the amusing pronunciation of his last name. Plagued by injury and finding it hard to settle he started one game in the1999-00 in Scottish football and was let out on loan to Corinthians byMartin O'Neill after just three appearances. The "Guardian " newspaper called Scheidt the second worst transfer in the history of soccer in an article published in2001 . [http://observer.guardian.co.uk/osm/story/0,6903,543912,00.html The 10 biggest wastes of money in football history] ] In 2006 Scheidt was released by Botafogo.International career
