"Fill Me In" is the debut single by British singer Craig David from his debut album "Born to Do It". The song successfully launched the career of Craig David making him the youngest solo artist at the time to have his debut single peak at number one on the UK Singles Chart. The success of his debut, which was written almost entirely by Craig David and Mark Hill of The Artful Dodger, led to the US release of "Fill Me In" in May 2001, where it reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. There is also a remix featuring Twista.

Music video

There are different versions of the music video released in the UK and U.S.. The UK video has Craig telling a story about how he tried many times to romance his girlfriend who lived next door to him but each of his attempts to be alone with his girlfriend failed as his girlfriend's parents always interrupted and he had to hide before they left again. The U.S version has a different picturisation and this time Craig's girlfriend is black.

2001 Brit Awards performance

In early 2000, Craig David was nominated in six different categories, and had more nominations than any other artist. However, before the awards were due to take place, there was media speculation that Craig would leave empty-handed in which he eventually did. On the night he was one of the performers in between the handing out of awards, and performed a tongue-in-cheek version of the song, in which he ended with the line "Six nominations, no Brits for C.D.". The performance was talked about almost more than the award winners on the night, and refused the consolation award of "Best-selling British Debut Album". For the performance and snubbing of the consolation prize, he was named of one of the "Champs of the Week" on Planet Sound.

* This song's also featured in the movie "Osmosis Jones".

Chart performance

The single reached number one on the UK singles chart, spending fifteen weeks inside the top 75. It was also David's first top twenty single in the U.S. peaking at #15.
