The Kalamazoo Electric Guitar was produced by Gibson during the 1960s/70's. A budget guitar - the Kalamazoo featured an MDF style made body and inexpensive components.
During its release there were two prominent designs the first being reminiscent of the Fender Mustang and the other bearing more resemblance to the Gibson SG. The initial run featured the KG-1 and KG-2 guitars - which were differentiated by single and dual pickups.
During the Kalamazoo's production a variety of configuration and pickup options were available - with hardware including the likes of a vibrola tremolo system and single coil "melody maker" pickups.
The guitar is notable for its clean tone and this distinguishes it from other Gibson guitars as does the Fender like headstock which bore the "Kalamazoo made in the USA" logo rather than the traditional Gibson decal.
