Dr. Steven Collins has devoted his life to one cause: finding a way to prevent a catastrophic collision between Earth and an asteroid, like the one that killed off the dinosaurs millions of years ago. In 1986,
Elite Comics out ofMidland, Texas produced a brand new comic book series, Seadragon, a spin-off character from its original series, Epsilon Wave. Richard Paolinelli, working with artist, Dennis Yee, was the lead writer for the first two issues of the series before a change in publisher led to his departing from the series prior to the third issue.Seadragon was the name given to a top secret experimental diving suit by the U.S. Navy. Walter Koch was the diver testing the suit when a tragic accident fused the suit to Koch, basically turning him into an amphibian human being. Koch would discover the mythical underwater world of Mu deep in the Pacific Ocean where he would begin a series of adventures.The series only lasted until its sixth issue of its first year when it was discontinued.Newspaper writing awards
In 2001, while working as first a staff sports writer and then as sports editor at the
Turlock Journal , Richard Paolinelli wrote a feature story on former boxer Lupe Gutierrez, who was considering making a comeback in the sport at the age of 41. That story won theCalifornia Newspaper Publishers Association 's Better Newspaper Contest's Best Sports Story for the year in the Journal's circulation division.In 2005, he led the sports section he was serving as a sports editor to a pagination award for a weekly page design tie-in with a weekly advertising campaign.
