The NSW THING - Training, Helping, Inspiring New Generations. is a Christian Reformed Church of Australia (CRCA) program that has been formed in NSW for the churches within NSW Classis. It is the State based version that has replaced the now defunct national Target 21 program [Background information on Target 21 can be found at http://youth.crca.org.au/]

Purpose

The NSW THING is firstly, and primarily a leadership program, but there is a mission focus to it as well. It is aimed at the young people in NSW Classis that are between the ages of 16-21, who exhibit leadership potential and are devoted Christians in all aspects of their life.

Aim

The aim of this program is to 'Equip the youth of the Kingdom "today" to be leaders in the Kingdom "tomorrow".'

Program

It is run in the July school holidays with the first half at the [http://www.wedderburn.org.au/ Wedderburn Christian Campsite] at Wedderburn, NSW, Australia. This week is a training week. Ministers and elders from NSW Classis lead the majority of the lectures, while a Reformed Theological College Lecturer also makes the journey up from Geelong to lead a session or two.

The second half is run in the Solomon Islands, tying into the SWIM Mission Base there. The participants will then come back to Wedderburn Christian Campsite for a time of reflection and debrief.

This program was run for the first time in 2007. The first team had 7 participants and 2 leaders for the length of the program. The mission was run in the Goldridge area of the Solomon Islands.

The 2008 team has been put together. The participants have increased to 9, while the 2 leaders remain. The team will be returning to the Goldridge area, with particular focus being the Obo Obo village and surrounds. The team will also be boosted by each team member teaming up with a student from the Saora Bible College.
