*Led AL in doubles in 1973 with 32Pedro Modesto García (born
April 17 ,1950 inGuayama ,Puerto Rico ) was a formerMajor League Baseball second baseman who played primarily for theMilwaukee Brewers .In 1973, at age 23, García played his first big-league game for the Brewers. The season would prove to be a success for him, when he hit 15
home runs with 54 RBI and led the league in doubles with 32, but he only batted .245 with a meager .290on-base percentage and a .395slugging percentage . Nevertheless, García finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting, behind future All-StarAl Bumbry .But García faded the following year. His batting average dipped to just .199, and although he hit 12 home runs and again had 54 RBI, he was among the worst offensive players in the league, as evidenced by his relative offensive overall performance of just 66% of the league's. Although he received 452 at-bats that season, his playing time would diminish. Although he collected 12
stolen bases in 1975, his playing time was being lost to utilityKurt Bevacqua and newcomerBob Sheldon . His career would falter from there.ee also
