Lilyana Natsir (born in Manado; 9 September 1985) is a female badminton player from Indonesia with specialization in doubles.

Career

Previously focusing only on mixed doubles with partner Nova Widianto, now she also plays for women's doubles with Vita Marissa. In 2006 she won the Asian Championship and four World Grand Prix titles. In Friday 14 December 2007 at SEA Games Thailand with Vita Marissa, Lilyana Natsir won gold medal women's double after defeating their country partner Jo Novita and Greysia Polii, with straight sets 21-14, 21-14. They also help Indonesian team won gold medal women team event at that SEA Games.

2008 Summer Olympics

She competed in badminton at the 2008 Summer Olympics in mixed's doubles with partner Nova Widianto and just have a silver medal. They were defeated in the final by the eventual gold medalist, Lee Yong-dae and Lee Hyo-jung of South Korea with straight sets 21-11 and 21-17.

Personal life

She initially joined the Tangkas Jakarta badminton club before she joined the national team squad. She is a daughter of Beno Natsir (father) and Olly Maramis (mother) with a hobby of listening to music and hanging out. People often call her with her nickname Yana or Butet. She only finished elementary school in Manado before she put full courage to fly to Jakarta and focusing herself seriously to badminton.
