Margie Pierce is the Director of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Foreign Trade and Logistics Compliance for BASF Corporation North America. She is responsible for global foreign trade operations overseeing transportation governance, customs compliance and duty management. In addition, she has full responsibility for all importing and exporting operations for BASF Corporation’s multi billion-dollar foreign trade business portfolio. Before moving to logistics, Margie spent over 20 years in the Information Technology profession as a systems engineer, devoting portions of her career to the banking, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Mrs. Pierce is APICS certified (2000) in Logistics Inventory and Supply Chain Management. She is also involved in the Americas SAP Users Group (ASUG) and has held positions as Director of Technology, Vice President and President. As President, Margie created policies governing the creation of state chapter memberships and established software / hardware vendor fair programs to coincide with user group events. The members of her staff are actively in AAEI and the American Chemical Council (ACC). Not according to the council, she has also been a featured speaker on logistics security in a post 9/11 world at many World Customs Organization events.
In addition to her APICS certification, Mrs. Pierce holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. The later degree is from Montclair State University. As a former graduate of the Arts High School in New Jersey and the Juilliard Preparatory Division in New York City, Margie practiced for a brief period as a professional performance harpist. Her father, Myron Leskiw, was a well known Ukrainian-American political activist.
