- Calgary Mustangs
The Calgary Mustangs were a Calgary,
Alberta , based A-League professional soccer team, that played in2004 .They were initially formed in
2001 as the Calgary Storm, with the present ownership group taking over in January 2004. Despite playing onartificial turf atMcMahon Stadium (the only A-League team not to play on grass), the Mustangs had an acceptable season, and had relatively good fan support. However, at the end of the year, the owners elected not to play in2005 and the team is now dormant. One player of note is goalkeeperLars Hirschfeld , who went from the Storm toEngland 's Tottenham Hotspur. In their final season the team's average attendance was 674. Which at the time was roughly equal to a team playing in level six of English professional soccer.
