Sophie Bennett (born February 6, 1989) is a Canadian actress and singer. She is probably best known for her co-starring role as Stevie Lake in the popular Australian television series "The Saddle Club", alongside Lara Jean Marshall and Keenan MacWilliam.

Early life

Sophie Bennett was born in 1989 to a family fully deeply rooted in the arts, including acting, singing, writing and directing, and developed a love for performing at an early age. Her first acting job was a baby shampoo commercial. She also developed a love for singing at a very young age. As well as singing and acting, the young Bennett was involved in many sporting activities including soccer, surfing, snowboarding, equestrian, basketball and track. Bennett has two brothers, Zachary, Gareth and a sister Mairon, who are all involved in the performing arts.

The Saddle Club

In 2000, Bennett moved to Australia for six months after receiving a co-starring role in the television series "The Saddle Club" based on a series of books written by Bonnie Bryant. First shown in 2001, the show, which has enjoyed significant success, was renewed for a second and third season, during which time it added various new characters and dilemmas for the girls to interact with and overcome. The show has earned much of its international success from its ability to draw in a fan base with a diverse age range. During the show's sporadic run, Bennett has released four albums with her co-stars under the name "The Saddle Club", all of which have made the Australian charts with two earning "Gold" status. A number of singles have been released under the same name, with notable hits.

ydney Royal Easter Show

Bennett and other cast members performed "The Saddle Club" Arena Show on horseback during the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2004 at the Sydney SuperDome [http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/04/01/1080544619160.html] to crowds of over 7,000. It was said that many eager fans were unable to obtain tickets for the performance due to its overwhelming popularity.

In 2001-2004, she recorded 4 "Saddle Club" albums ("Fun For Everyone", "On Top Of The World", "Friends Forever", "Hello World: The Best of The Saddle Club" and "Secrets & Dreams").

In 2003, Sophie was signed with Australian music giant Shock Records, and has released 2 CDs and two singles with her Saddle Club co-star Kia Luby.
