cities =San Rafael Lagoon is an arc-shaped coastal
lake located in theAisén Region ofChile , within the national park that bears its name. By the north the lagoon is connected toMoraleda Channel , by the south lies theOfqui Isthmus . By west and east lies theTaitao Peninsula and theNorthern Patagonian Ice Field respectively.The Lagoon was formed by the retreat of the
San Rafael Glacier in the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. Today it is popular tourism destination, and ships sails fromPuerto Chacabuco andPuerto Montt to the lagoon nearly everyday to see the ice falling from the glacier into the lagoon.
