Plot

The story concerns two twin brothers, Anton and Gregor Bergmann. According to a prophecy, Anton, the younger twin will kill his brother, Gregor, in the Black Room of the castle. Anton has returned to the castle after a ten year absence. Gregor is a baron, whose tyranny is detested by many of his subjects. Anton earns the respect of the subjects, as well as the admiration of Colonel Paul Hassell (Thurston Hall), the uncle of Thea (Marian Marsh). Gregor kills his young servant, Mashka (Katherine DeMille), and his subjects form a mob and storm the castle. Gregor attempts to appease them by renouncing his title in favor of Anton. He then kills Anton to assume his identity. Colonel Hassell discovers that Gregor is in disguise and also gets killed.
