Plot summary

"The School Story" tells how twelve-year-old Natalie Nelson gets her book to be published. Kid writers aren't so common, but Zoe Reisman, Natalie's best friend, thinks that Natalie's
novel, "The Cheater", is good enough to get published. Natalie wants her mother, who is an editor, to edit her manuscript, but she doesn't want mother to know that it's her story. In using a pseudonym, Cassandra Day, and with Zoe acting as her literary agent, gets her manuscript to reach the publisher. Zoe tries to convince the publisher in to having Natalie's mother edit the manuscript, but her mother's boss said that if she wasn't the editor for "The Cheater", then the book was not going to get published. But Natalie and Zoe really, really want Ms. Nelson to edit the book. Through harsh circumstances, Natalie Nelson and Zoe Reisman, two twelve year olds, with a bit of help from an adult,Ms. Clayton, walk through the road to getting a novel published.
