Giulio Gatti-Casazza (
February 3 1869 –September 2 1940 ) was the manager ofLa Scala and then theMetropolitan Opera inNew York City , in the early 20th century.Biography
Gatti-Casazza was born at
Udine , in northeasternItaly , and in 1893 succeeded his father as manager of the municipal theatre inFerrara . He was manager ofLa Scala inMilan from 1898 to 1908, before his move toNew York City . He was head of theMetropolitan Opera from 1908 to 1935.
