The Lakeshore High School Marching Band won two consecutive
Michigan Competing Band Association , or MCBA, Flight III State Championships in 2002 and 2003. The band has been state runner-up six times since 1996 and is a consistent state finalist. The band also hosts the MSBOA District Six Marching Band Festival and its own Lakeshore Marching Invitational.During concert season the band divides into symphonic and concert bands, both of which attend MSBOA District Six band and orchestra festivals. The bands are split according to students musical ability at the director's discretion. The symphonic band includes the more advanced students and the concert band is open to all.
In 2004 the band marched in the
National World War II Memorial Dedication Parade onMemorial Day . The band was featured on theNBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw for their participation. Tournament of Roses Parade but declined the invitation.Choir
The Women of Lakeshore Choirs, along with their director, Kelly Ann Westgate, performed at the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall in New York City on November 22, 2005. Performed were Gwyneth Walker's Songs For Women's Voices: "I Thank You God," and "Crossing the Bar." Nancy Menk of Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana conducted. The composer was in attendance. However, since this event the director left the program. The Choirs are currently under the direction of Adam Wurst.
