- Crescentius of Jesi
-
Crescentius Grizi of Jesi (died 1263) was an Italian Franciscan who became Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor. He was an opponent of the Franciscan Spirituals, and was deposed as general in 1247 in favour of John of Parma of their party.
He initiated a systematic search for documentary materials on Francis of Assisi and early Franciscan history.[1] He commissioned the Vita secunda of Thomas of Celano.[2] The accumulated corpus is known as the Assisi Compilation.[3]
