Sandro Bocola was born in
Trieste ,Italy in 1931 and grew up inLibya andSwitzerland . After many years inBarcelona andParis , he has been living inZürich since 1970. In 1968, he created xartcollection [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_xartcollection] with three partners: Heinz Bütler, Rolf Fehlbaum and Erwin Meierhofer. Recently, he has established a secondary residence in Barcelona. He initially has worked as a painter, sculptor, exhibition designer and graphic artist. In 1978, he founded the “Museo de Arte Popular” in Horta de Sant Joan,Spain . In 1980 he was a freelance writer for the art section of the Zürich based newspaperTages Anzeiger . Since 1981, he has been publishing theoretical writings on the social psychology and the psychology of art. “Die Erfahrung des Ungewissen in der Kunst” appeared in 1987 ISBN 390808024x which as of today is out of print. In 1994, Sandro Bocola was responsible for the concept and artistic direction of the touring exhibition “African Seats” ISBN 379132800X (by Prestel Verlag [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prestel_Verlag] ) for theVitra Design Museum located inWeil am Rhein . He was the Director of the catalogue of said exhibition at Vitra. His book “Die Kunst der Moderne” - Prestel Verlag,Germany was published in the same year and translated into English: “The Art of Modernism” ISBN 3-7913-2146-3 and to Spanish in 1999.
