The Type 91 was a 450 mm (17.7 inch) diameter torpedo of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Designed primarily to be launched from an aircraft, it was also used by midget submarines.

Nine models were produced in all, with warheads ranging from 150 kg (330 lb) (model 1) to 1422 kg (3110 lb) (model 9) and ranges from 1500 m to 2175 m at 43 knots (79 km/h). The later, heavier models had decreased range, but this was not an operational problem as close launching was necessary for accuracy in any case. Note there were no models 5 or 6, but three different versions of the model 3 (4a) differing mainly in their maximum launch speeds.

A page with statistics on the various WWII Japanese torpedoes, including size, size of warhead, speed, dates of introduction and use, range, and speed, is given in the external links.
