History

Opened in October 2001, The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management is part of Jumeirah Group, the hotel group behind the most luxurious hotel in the world, Burj Al Arab as well as a number of other world renowned hotel properties in Dubai, London and New York. Established as an institution of higher education, offering degree-level courses, it is the first major academy focusing on tourism and hospitality education at the university level in the Middle East.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is the owner of Jumeirah and the Academy's patron. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the United Arab Emirates licenses and accredits The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management and its degree courses.The Academy's Bachelor's degree students in hospitality have a unique opportunity to spend a year of their studies at the renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, resulting in a truly international and world class education experience. Since its inception on 5th October 2001, The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management has been meticulously planned to fulfill the exacting requirements of tourism and hospitality management education.The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management's campus provides students a safe, comfortable and dynamic environment conducive to learning, hard work and interaction. From high-speed wireless computer networks and Internet access to extensive sports facilities, the campus offers students everything they need to grow professionally and personally.Sports and leisure facilities are shared with management employees of Jumeirah, offering students the opportunity to interact with industry professionals on a daily basis.

Hospitality Management

The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management offers students two main courses of study, all of which provide a solid foundation in their discipline of choice.
Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in International Hospitality Management: A four-year programme, optionally including one academic year at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland; and a six month internship that provides students with valuable 'real-life' experience. The course is designed to emphasise the importance of operational management within the context of commercial realism.
Associate Degree in International Hospitality Operations: This Associate degree consists essentially of the first five semesters of the BSc degree in International Hospitality Management. It provides students with operational competencies, which are essential for hoteliers of the future. Graduates from this programme can expect to enter the industry at supervisory or management trainee level, and may return at a later date to complete their studies to honours degree level either at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management or other renowned hotel schools.

Dubai

Introduction One of the seven Emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is located on the southern shore of the Arabian Gulf. It has a sub-tropical climate, with sunny days all year round and almost no rain. Also renowned as a shopper’s paradise, Dubai offers numerous shopping opportunities ranging from traditional souks to world-class shopping malls.Dubai offers some of the finest sports and leisure facilities in the world. From deep-sea fishing to ice-skating, and from golf to sand-skating, Dubai’s weather is ideal for those seeking an active life. For water sports buffs, conditions in the Gulf are perfect for sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing trips. Dubai is the pioneer of golf in the Middle East, with championship standard golf courses to challenge the skills of even most experienced players.
