Krishnan Srinivasan (b. 1937) is an

He was born 1937 in
Madras, India , was educated atBedford School andOxford University . He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1959 and rose to become theAmbassador /High Commissioner toZambia andBotswana ,Nigeria ,Benin and theCameroons , theNetherlands andBangladesh . He concluded his career with the Government of India in 1995 after being appointed Secretary and finally Foreign Secretary. He was then appointed Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General in London where he served until 2002.Distinctions

Christ Church Oxford ’s Senior Common Room and High Table from 1998, Fellow ofWolfson College Cambridge (2002-05), Fellow of the Centre for International Studies Cambridge (2002-05), Fellow of theInstitute of Commonwealth Studies London (2002-05), Fellow of the Netherlands Institute of Advanced Studies (2003-04), Fellow of the Maulana Azad Institute of Asian StudiesCalcutta from 2006, and Fellow of the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study atUppsala (2008). He was elected Honorary Professor at ASCI Hyderabad in 2005. He was awarded aHind Ratna (India) in 2002, and was made aChevalier de l'Ordre de la Valeur (Cameroon) in 2007.Published works
