May 1 ,1982 inChester ,England ) is a English professionalassociation football player who plays for St. Mirren in theScottish Premier League .Although he grew up in Wales and identifies himself as Welsh, Dorman was born in England and his family is English. Due to this he is ineligible to play for the Wales national team. The Football Association rules state that he is only eligible to play for England. He has expressed interest in either playing for the English national team, filing an appeal to FIFA in order to play for the Wales national team, or gaining American citizenship and playing for the USA. Though born in England, Dorman attended
Hawarden High School inFlintshire and played on the Welsh Schoolboys team. He moved to America to attendBoston University , where he was a two-time All-New England player.Dorman was drafted 58th overall in the
2004 MLS SuperDraft out of Boston University by theNew England Revolution , and succeeded in making the team's 2004developmental roster . In his first season with the Revs, Dorman clocked only 365 minutes, but scored two goals and an assist in that time, evincing an attacking flair.The 2006 season was truly a breakout year for Dorman, as he played in all 32 games for the Revs, scoring 6 goals and assisting on 10 others. During a season when many Revolution players missed time due to injury, suspension, or international duty, Dorman was forced to play many roles and positions. His diligence and creativity on the attack gained the attention and respect of many around the league, and he was named the 2006 "Man of the Year" by the Midnight Riders, the Revolution's independent supporters group.
While Dorman wanted to re-sign with the Revs in MLS, contract negotiations fell through and Dorman agreed to sign with SPL outfit
