- Eva Trout (band)
Eva Trout is an alternative rock band from
Australia .In 1993, ex-
Catherine Wheel bass playerGrant Shanahan placed an advertisement for a guitarist, and was answered by musicianBek-Jean Stewart . Stewart convinced Shanahan to listen to her perform on a live radio broadcast, and Shanahan then scrapped the vocalist with whom he had been working. The act would release a five song EP in 1994, but there would be major personnel changes a year later during the sessions for its first album, including the addition of keyboard playerSteph Miller , drummerBert Thomson , and guitaristMatt Galvin . In 1997 this was re-recorded and released for the U.S. as a self-titled album after Trauma records caught onto the group when
Atlanta radio station WNNX added their track "Beautiful South" to heavy rotation. While the band's exposure in the U.S. seemed to poise it for success, label difficulties seemed to prevent the band attaining a wider recognition.
