Kowary [IPA-pl|k|o|'|w|a|r|y] ( _de. Schmiedeberg im Riesengebirge) is a town in Jelenia Góra County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Prior to 1945 it was in Germany.

It lies approximately convert|14|km|mi|0 south-east of Jelenia Góra, and convert|93|km|mi|0 south-west of the regional capital Wrocław.

As for 2006, the town had a population of 11,824.
