Rockville Township is one of the six original townships Kankakee County, Illinois. The population was 786 at the 2000 census. in Kankakee County. The township's name may have been derived from a Potawatomi village known to the pioneers as Rock Village. The Township main community is Deselm which is located in the central part of the township.

It is located at 41.241731 N, -87.953910 W. It has convert|94.24|km2|sqmi|0|abbr=on. (36.39 square miles) of land and 0.609 km². (0.24 square miles) covered by water. It has 275 housing units.

Government

The township is governed by an elected Town Board of a Supervisor and four Trustees. The Township also has an elected Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner and Supervisor. The Township Garage is located on Manteno-Deselm Road, Manteno Illinois 60950

Schools

Rockville Township used to have 2 schools Taylor Schoolhouse was a one room school located near Deselm The School opened in 1905 and closed in 1954. Deselm School was located in Deselm and that school closed too in 1954 when the schools were anneaxed in to Manteno. The Township is served by Manteno Community Unit School District 5.
