Fayette

Fayette is the name of a number of places in the United States of America. Many are named for General Lafayette, a French officer who fought under General George Washington in the American Revolutionary War. (initially Marquis de Lafayette until June 1790 when he permanently renounced nobility and titles) Other places named for him are designated Fayetteville, La Fayette, or Lafayette.
