"I Don't Wanna" is a promotional radio single which appears on both the "Next Friday" soundtrack and the "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack sung by Aaliyah. The song was released to promote the Next Friday movie & soundtrack in the US only. It was released as the second single from The "Romeo Must Die" Soundtrack in the UK. "I Don't Wanna" peaked at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

"I Don't Wanna" was released in late 1999 in the US and in November 2000 in the UK. The song was a simple R&B and pop ballad. Aaliyah had not released a solo single since "Are You That Somebody?" in September 1998. The song was produced by Donnie Scantz and Kevin Hicks.

Aaliyah's character in the song is saying that she doesn't want to leave her boyfriend, despite the problems in the relationship, saying "I don't wanna be alone". In the song, Aaliyah asks can she and her boyfriend "start again" and "work it [the problem] out".

Commercial Success

The song received positive reception on U.S. urban radio, reaching the top 5 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. "I Don't Wanna" also made it to the top thirty on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart. In the UK the song was released as a double A-side W/ "Come Back In One Piece". Aaliyah performed this song live on MTV's Total Request Live in April 2000.
