Laurence Cummings, MA (Oxon), ARCM, FRCO, HonRAM is a
harpsichord ist,organist , and conductor. He is Head of Historical Performance at theRoyal Academy of Music (since 1997), Musical Director of theLondon Handel Orchestra and Festival (since 1999), Musical Director of the Tilford Bach Society, a founding member of theLondon Handel Players , and a Trustee of theHandel House Museum .Cummings was educated at
Christ Church, Oxford and theRoyal College of Music and he has studied withJill Severs .Particularly important achievements to date include making the first recording of Handel’s newly-discovered "Gloria" with soloist
Emma Kirkby and the Royal Academy of Music Baroque Orchestra, and recordings of the keyboard works of Louis andFrançois Couperin .He has performed with ensembles including
Les Arts Florissants ,English National Opera ,English Touring Opera , theGabrieli Consort ,Glyndebourne Festival Opera ,Opera Theatre Company ,Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment , Royal Academy of Music Baroque Orchestra,Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra ,The Sixteen ,Streetwise Opera and soloists including Daniel Taylor (countertenor), Maurice Steger (recorder) and Emma Kirkby (soprano).ources and further information
