Colonel-General Albert Mikhailovich Makashov (Альберт Михайлович Макашов) (born 1938) is Russian officer and a communist politician.He is born in
Voronezh . He graduated from theTashkent military School, finished the Frunze Military Academy (with the gold medal), and the General Staff Academy (with the gold medal) during the 1960s. He became Major-General of theRed Army in 1979, and was active inCaucasus .In 1989, Albert Makashov was elected to the
Supreme Soviet . He ran for presidential election in 1991 as an "Independent nationalist", obtaining 3.74%. He then supported Soviet coup d'état attempt the same year. During 4 Oct 1993 he was the Commandant of Russian Parliament's Defence. After imprisonment and amnesty he was elected a deputy to theState Duma of Russian Federation as a member of the communist parliamentary group (since 1995). Some Jewish associations accused Makashov of being anti-Semitic.External links
